Home Assistant integrations

Integration guides are coming soon. This section will cover the pieces that connect your ESPHome devices, Zigbee sensors and smart-home gear to Home Assistant, and how to get the most out of each one.

Coming soon. The first integration guides are being written now. The build guides already cover the ESPHome side of every project; this section is about what happens once a device reaches Home Assistant.

What's planned

  • ESPHome: adopting devices, encryption keys, updating firmware from Home Assistant, and fixing devices that show as unavailable.
  • Energy and water dashboards: adding electricity, solar, gas and water sensors, and why a sensor sometimes won't appear in the list.
  • Zigbee: ZHA versus Zigbee2MQTT, choosing a coordinator, and building a strong mesh.
  • Matter and Thread: what they change, what they don't, and when they're worth it.
  • MQTT: when to use it instead of the native ESPHome API.
  • Bluetooth: getting the most from Bluetooth proxies.
  • Notifications: the companion app, critical alerts that sound on silent, and actionable notifications.

Until then

Every build guide already includes a section on using that project in Home Assistant, with ready-made automation ideas. If there's an integration you'd like covered first, let me know.
